SDC -- Ladies Choice

Social Disco Club, is proud to announce the launch of Ladies Choice---a new series dedicated to showcasing women and female-identifying vinyl djs and curators. Denver-based DJ, Brenda Robles (aka Precious Blood) and Social Disco Club Founder, Yokchi Chang, have partnered up to create Ladies Choice in an effort to provide a safe space for empowerment and togetherness through the music and vinyl of the disco era. 

Robles and Chang wanted to address the lack of representation in an otherwise male dominated industry and create a community to honor the spirit of the social movements from the time when disco was at its peak.

Xica Soul is a Los Angeles, CA based DJ  and radio host who began DJing in San Francisco in 2010. She hosts a  monthly radio show as a resident of Artform Radio on Worldwide-FM, and a  weekly radio show on KQBH-FM in Los Angeles. As a DJ, her intention is  to move people, inspire and connect through the honest power of music.  Additionally, she has had the opportunity to open for artists such as  Kamaal Williams, Peanutbutter Wolf, J.Rocc, and MNDSGN, adding a soulful  touch each time. Her record collection and tastes are always evolving  due to the seemingly boundlessness of music, ranging from sweet soul,  funk, house music and everything in between. She is drawn to unique and  quirky vocals, eclectic sounds, heavy drums and the subtle yet textured  sounds of synthesizers. Xica Soul weaves varying genres into her sets  with ease, telling stories, and pushing limits with her selections.

Precious Blood is a Denver based DJ who grew up with a solid foundation  of boogie, disco, funk and soul. She hosts a monthly night, POSSESSOR,  which showcases local Denver vinyl DJs with the goal of expanding the  Denver music scene. While her music tastes have evolved throughout the  years to include genres like new wave, italo, techno and EBM, her heart  has always been drawn to the music she was raised on. Her growing record  collection includes her favorite disco and boogie jams along with  eclectic selections of all varieties.
